{Girl Crush Tuesday} Helen Sherman sings all the right notes

We have some pretty hard girl crushes. These are the types of ladies that stamp their style on the world. They are the type of people that will always be remembered and little girls grow up wanting to be. They are women of substance. Women that make the world a better place. Happy Girl Crush Tuesday everybody.line4Today’s girl crush is on someone very special (and someone I know personally!). Today we salute the wonderfully talented mezzo-soprano Helen Sherman.

Helen was born in Australia and attended MacKillop College with yours truly! Following school she studied music at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music where she completed a Bachelor of Music and Post Graduate Diploma in opera. Not long afterwards Helen was awarded a scholarship at the prestigeous Royal Northern College of Music where she was the first student to receive the International Artists Diploma in opera. In 2011 Helen represented Australia at the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World competition! How brilliant! She again represented her country in 2014, when she was the only mezzo selected as a finalist in the Francisco Viñas International Singing Competition, held in Barcelona. In 2013 Helen was awarded 3rd prize in the prestigious Wigmore Hall International Song Competition and in 2014 was invited to sing in the Opening Ceremony of the Tour de France, Le Grand Depart held at Leeds Arena. Helen is a Samling Scholar and an associate artist for Classical Opera Company.

Helen is an absolutely sensational performer and all round good person. She has such a remarkably brilliant voice that really is a gift to all those that are lucky enough to hear her. Helen now resides in the United Kingdom following her dreams and performing as an opera artist of the finest kind.

Thank you Helen for showing all little girls that with hard work and determination, dreams really do come true (and may just take you to the otherside of the world!)
