| CHRISTMAS PRIZEAPOLOOZA | Knot up some Succulents

Karen Brouff is a busy lady and has not one but two excellent businesses in this year’s prizeapolooza That Succulent Place and Knots with Style.

That Succulent Place provides beautiful quality Succulents and Cacti. Karen grows her own succulents and cacti, and propagate regularly from them. She also sources succulents and cacti from other home based growers as well as her parent’s extensive collection from Warren, Central West NSW.

Quality & rarer succulents and cacti are hard to come by in our local area, so That Succulent Place loves to fill that succulent need.

That Succulent Place creates beautiful Terrariums. She recycles and uses old casserole bowls, Jars, anything that will suitably host a succulent! Karen’s father, Doug creates amazing wooden Log Pots, Sourced from a Property in Warren, NSW, that he has worked on for the past 58 years. His amazing, unique creations, along with Karen’s succulents and cacti, make the most gorgeous and one off gifts and home décor.

The succulents, cacti and log pots have become very popular and people even come from Sydney, Canberra and all around to purchase something unique and special.

That Succulent Place will even create custom orders, in both Terrariums and timber pots.

That Succulent Place is always open for business; a quick message to organise a day and time to come out to Eglinton is never a problem. She also has regular open weekends, which you can find details about on her facebook page.

Knots with Style began from a hobby and she now holds regular workshops, both locally and out in Central West NSW at Warren, Narromine and Dubbo. Karen says she loves to teach macramé.

Karen takes great pride in both her businesses supplying quality handmade products. She says she loves seeing customer’s reactions when they buy a product from her, and the enjoyment people get from making their own macramé creations when they attend a workshop.

One of the best things about That Succulent Place and Knots with Style is how much Karen supports other local businesses. She chooses to source succulents from other home based growers, and macramé supplies from independently owned craft and fibre businesses. She also supports the “buy from the bush” and “One Day Closer to Rain, (Drought), Rural Cottage Crafts initiative, and her parents create succulent arrangements with materials sourced from the community of Warren NSW. All of the wood arrangements have a story of where the materials were sourced from, highlighting Warren.

2020 is lining up to be exciting year with regular workshops in 2020 and the release of various new collections including a nursery/children’s collection.

Kel just loves to design and will tackle anything you throw her way. She says she often finds herself working on party invites one second, then signage and sublimated clothing designs the next!

She particularily loves working with businesses to find their voice. She says “Your logo is your branding and identity. You want to be the first thought of a perspective client when they need one of your products or services.” With this attitude and the right amount of know-how she can take your business to the next level.

My husband and I used Kellie Gibson Graphic Design when we needed our business to have a refresh. It was funny, we didn’t even know what we wanted, but thankfully Kel was able to work with us to create something better than we ever could have thought. I found it incredible how she was able to transform our scattered sketches and verbal ideas into something perfect.

{Christmas Prizeapolooza 2018} Stone Pine makes Christmas super fine

The best thing about Christmas isn’t the gifts or carols. It’s not Santa or lights.

It’s the simple things.

It’s the sitting around a table with your family and friends celebrating the year that was. Celebrating the love that surrounds us all. What makes that even nicer is if you crack open a bottle of something from the Stone Pine Distillery.

Owned and operated by Bev and Ian Glen (Ian is the Distiller) and located on Gormans Hill Road, Bathurst Stone Pine Distillery is a rare gem.

Bev and Ian emigrated from Scotland 12 years ago with 2 small children and their dog! They spent two years building and setting up the Distillery and have been in operation for over 10 years now!

Stone Pine Distillery is a boutique Distillery that produces premium quality hand crafted spirits and liqueurs. Their products include several types of gin including Orange Blossom and Truffle to name just a couple. They also offer citrus infused vodka and the notorious Dead Man’s Drop which is a delicious dark spiced rum.

On top of all that they also have various liqueurs including Limoncello (my fave!), honey liqueur and a brand new Cabernet Brandy Liqueur. This liqueur was pot distilled then aged for six years in a french oak barrique, prior to being married with grape juice. What this means is that it is a fruity, ruby-red liqueur that matches perfectly with your Christmas Puddin’!

Stone Pine Distillery have just released the Decade Gin. This gin celebrates their first 10 years and utilises ten botanicals to deliver a rounded, juniper-forward flavour with a subtle complexity.

It’s really important to get behind this great local business because they were the first Distillery set up in the Central West and still the only ones operating in the Bathurst/Orange area.

One of the best features is that Stone Pine Distillery always try and source their ingredients locally and love utilising Australian Native Botanicals.

They have just released their Decade Gin to celebrate their first 10 years. It utilises ten botanicals to deliver a rounded, Juniper-forward flavour with subtle complexity.

If you want to get your gorgeous mits on some Stone Pine Distillery deliciousness then you can find their products in many local bottle shops across Bathurst (Cobb and Co Cellars, the Nickerbocker Bottleshop, Bernardi’s IGA) and in Orange (Ferment, The Agrestic Grocer and the Rugby Bottleshop)

You can even find them at the Orange Christmas Farmers Markets on Saturday 8 December 2018 or the Bathurst Farmer’s Markets on Saturday 15th of December 2018.

{Christmas Prizeapolooza 2018} Christmas blooms better with Ivory Rose

We LOVE Ivory Rose Botanicals! Not only do they do amazing floral art masterpieces but they are genuinely the nicest, friendliest store of people you will ever walk into.

Located in George Street, Bathurst you will not have to look far to see one of the most amazing window displays in all of the area, they take great care decorating and staging a window like no other. The shop is stunning even before you walk in the door.

Ivory Rose Botanicals has grown from a home studio to one of the most successful businesses in town in such a short time. It’s a family run and operated business open 6 days a week. What sets Maddie and her team apart is that fact that you aren’t just a customer when you walk in, you quickly become part of the family.

Maddie has some wonderful staff working alongside her including a number of ladies from Vivability who make Ivory Rose Botanicals  just that little bit more lovely. She also supports a couple of talented up and coming florists to the business and aims to prove that those with ability (and as a self employed working mummy) can achieve the greatest of goals. (p.s watch this space for the upcoming Power of Ability launch!)

Ivory Rose Botanicals  is different from the rest because they push the boundaries of floral art to ensure each one of their pieces are uniquely designed to entice the senses. They rely on the ‘fresh is best’ policy and only order enough stock to turn over every two days to ensure you only ever receive the highest quality produce.

What I love about  Ivory Rose Botanicals are the fact that you can also get super hands on. Maddie and the team hold workshops where you can learn floral art and create your own magnificent masterpieces in a fun and supportive atmosphere. They even have Christmas workshops!
