{Locally found} Autumnfest 2018

One of my most favourite things about this time of year is just how beautiful our area is. The leaves are starting to change, there is a crispness to the mornings but the days still envelope you with warmness. walk

A little while ago we were lucky enough to attend Autumnfest at Mayfield Garden.

You all know my love affair with Mayfield Garden and it is honestly because we are yet to attend the garden and not have a wonderful day filled with love, adventure and laughter.

You can explore the garden including the grotto waterfall (kids’ highlight) as well as the garden nursery (my favourite) and the cafe (hubs’ favourite!).

The kids spend the day interacting with nature, there are animals everywhere (including a very friendly peacock!) and there are secret tunnels, winding paths and breathtaking views.

Autumnfest is a day where the garden is transformed and great local bands set up stage in front of the beautiful water feature and the day is spend snacking on beautiful food, listening to music while being surrounded by family and friends.

There are stalls and free face painting for the kids. There was a giant leaf pit and even the chance to meet the musicians.

The best part – we take the kids every year and it’s something we all equally enjoy. There really is something for everyone.

family

We love the garden and the whole family eagerly marks the calendar as soon as we hear about the next event.

Get your family, friends and even the pet dog and explore one of our areas greatest wonderlands. Mayfield Garden is open just about every single day of the year.

{Locally Found} Succulent Love

Recently I was invited to my very first succulent workshop with the beautiful Renelle at Pop-Up Succulent Shop to say I had a brilliant afternoon would be such an understatement.

1

Upon arriving you are met with a glass of bubbles and a delicious cheese & fruit platter (she won me over right there!). Before long I forgot I was in a class and it felt much more like I was in my friend’s lounge room having a few drinks and learning some new things about gardening.

2

Renelle was patient and explained perfectly what we had to do. She answered ALL my probably ridiculous questions and even helped me when I realised things for my kokedama were not quite going according to plan!

My mum came with me and quickly we made friends with the other people at the workshop, that’s the thing you see it was relaxed and friendly. There were no strangers just friends we were yet to meet.  4

Renelle supplies everything you need to make two kokedamas and she even gives some good hints on how to wrap other plants you buy to make great gifts or house plants.

I am far from a good gardener but bloody hell I was proud when I came home and showed the hubs and kids what I had made. I now very proudly have two kokedamas in my kitchen and each and every time I look at them I get all warm and fuzzy and remember the great afternoon I had.

6

Make sure you grab a pal and check out one of the workshops offered by Renelle at  Pop-Up Succulent Shop. She holds a range of workshops including kokedamas, wreath and general potting classes.

You can also have a chat to Renelle at many markets and events she attends around our area.

macquaUnless you have been living under a rock you would have heard me yak on and on about this one time I got to create my very own lipstick with the girls from Macquarie Medispa. They have bought to our area the  Lip Lab which is just the most fabulous thing ever.

I went and experienced the fun of the  Lip Lab a little while ago – in fact you can read about my fun night out here -> The Central Nest went Lip Labbing but in case you missed it, the Lip Lab at Macquarie Medispa in Orange is the first of its kind in the area.

The Lip Lab is an exciting innovation that lets you customise your very own lipstick. You get to choose the colour, whether it’s lipstick or gloss and even the scent! lip

You meet with one of your colour consultants who takes you step by step through the process to create your very own masterpiece!

Just to top it off you get to name your own lipstick so that the girls can recreate it for you again in the future! For a long time Macquarie Medispa has been ahead of the curve and this is another great example.

{Christmas Prizeapolooza 2016} Give the gift of some Thermo loving this Christmas

A little over a year ago the hubs won some massive brownie points and ordered me a Thermomix. Now I don’t want to sound all ‘thermo-cult’ but, well, I bloody love it!

One of the best things that came from this purchase was not only the rockin’ machine but also the wonderful service offered by thermomix consultant Sally Hyland. I simply cannot recommend her enough. sally

Thermomix have consultants all across the Central West that can assist you. If you don’t already have a Thermomix consultant, you can just request a local consultant by visiting the Thermomix in Australia website: https://www.thermomix.com.au/how-to-purchase/contact-us/

Thermomix has some exciting things in the pipeline for 2017 like the launch of the Thermomix Cooking Experience. I love that Thermomix is never standing still and always looking for the next big thing. One new change is the gift registry option so instead of elcrappo wedding gifts you can actually get goooood gifts! I love this idea! So basically now is a fantastic time to give your local consultant a call to find out more!

Your local Thermomix consultant can also help you with your Christmas gifts (just make sure you order by 12 December !) you could give your loved ones (or yourself!) a new cookbook, some new bakeware or even a gift voucher.

Plus, if you are looking for some more cash in the new year why not consider working with thermomix and jumping onboard the Thermomix train?

To get your Christmas just a little bit sweeter your local thermomix team is offering one lucky nester the chance to win a complete Rose Gold Baking Kit! Woah! This includes a set of 3 baking trays (the smallest even fits in the Varoma), a set of two cake tins (again fits in the Varoma so you can create steaming cheesecakes or delicious sticky date puddings in the thermo) as well as some precut parchment paper! As if that’s not enough there is also a thermomat, a silicone snack mould, an oven mat and a 12 hole muffin tray! Oh, my baby cheeses!!

To be in the running all you have to do is be a ‘liker’ of  The Central Nest’s facebook pages and like the ORIGINAL competition post on our facebook page.

{Locally Found} One nester’s experience on the Great Western Steam Train Tour

We recently wrote about the Great Western Tour that is heading our way. You can check out the article here -> Toot Toot Hail A Steam Train

One of our gorgeous Nesters Dayna was lucky enough to go on the Dubbo run last weekend and this is what she had to say:

Today’s train ride was wonderful!

Such a sense of nostalgia! I was in such a carriage, although the original steam train carriages were pulled by diesel, when I was 4. An exciting trip to Sydney with my grandmother who has since passed. I remember distinctly, the smell of her perfume and warmth from her generous chest which served as my pillow as we rocked away into the night.

I’ve been pondering tonight on moments that that in an instant transport you back in time to a place of mystery, magic and absolute adventure.

On the steam train today there were adults with childlike twinkles in their eyes that seemed to expand and gush forth with laughter at every sound of the engines cry.

Magical memories relived in a short but beautiful trip. The ride gave a rare opportunity to relive childhood, and for a fleeting moment become more childlike.

It was much more than a train ride, but rather a trip down memory lane.

I wonder what other experiences affords your followers that same euphoria of forgotten moments locked in the recesses of time.

So Nesters, make sure you grab your tickets from Transport Heritage NSW for the Bathurst run THIS weekend!http---static.wixstatic.com-media-367ea5_4f8ea9fb5d1b439b9c21f737d6783254
