The markets are a great day out!

You can find a wide range of local produce, meet some local farmers and eat some REALLY good fresh food.

It is a gold coin donation on the door and all donations made this weekend will go straight to the bushfire victims. The Lions Club of Bathurst will be able to write tax receipts for all larger donations if needed, you can speak to a Lions members on the main entry gate for more information.

Get out and celebrate all that is local. Plus help our bushfire neighbours in the process.

BAM the markets are good!

Want to be in the place where all the cool kids will be this Saturday? Well, look no further than the Bathurst Artisan Markets (BAM). Showcasing a variety of locally made handcrafted products, the pop up stalls will be filled with art, design, fashion & jewellery to name just a few.

Located in the Bathurst Art Gallery & Library forecourt in Keppel Street on Saturday 14 September 2013, this is the place you need to be. Get you and your birdies and fly down between 9am and 1pm to experience some very talented local designers.

One of the gorgeous designers that we will be eager to check out will be the crew from Fox and Willow. We are loving (and dreaming about owning) one of their glamorous Peter Pan collars.

Also keep an eye out for the deliciously, delightful Cumquat Mae who can make even the most useless cook look like a chef!

Plus, if you want to pimp out your wardrobe the team at Aubrey will give you a little love.

Also Lueth Ajak will be getting everyone in the mood for some shopping by playing some beautiful tunes.

Support your local farmer (and eat his food) at the Farmers’ Markets

One of the very best things about living away from the big smoke is the fact that quality, fresh produce is readily available.

I love the idea of local producers showing me their products without the need for a ‘middle-man’. Plus teaching my little-birds that food does not only come from a supermarket is a valuable life lesson in itself!

This month we particularly loved the pesto Leaning Oak Goat’s cheese and the chilli olives from Ploughman’s Hill Olives. Definitely worth a trip just for those two items!

The Bathurst Farmer’s Markets are held the fourth Saturday of each month from January to November and on the third Saturday in December at the Bathurst Showground.

The Orange Farmer’s Markets operate on the second Saturday of each month at the Orange Showground (May to October) or at the Northcourt behind the Visitor Information Centre (November to April)

What a delicious way to help support local farmers and their families.
