{The Nest Celebrations} Naming Day

Traditional christenings are becoming less and less popular and there has been a surge of Naming Days that are taking their place. namin6

Naming days are usually non-religious but are a fantastic way to celebrate your new little person with your nearest and dearest.

Today, we speak with Amanda who chose to give her son Reid a Naming Day!

TCN: So, why a naming day and not a traditional Christening or Baptism?

My husband and I aren’t particularly religious but we still wanted Reid to have his own special ceremony and a day all about him so we chose to have a Naming Day instead!naming

TCN: How old is Reid?

Reid is One! We combined his first birthday party and naming day ceremony so we could have one big day to celebrate our little man.

TCN: Did you have a Naming Day for your other child as well?

Yes, Jayce our 2.5 year old also had a Naming Day on his first birthday as well. naming3

TCN: Did you use a Celebrant or just do it yourself?

We decided to go with a Celebrant. She was the same lady who completed Jayce’s Naming Day as well as our wedding! So it has been lovely that she has been a part of our lives in so many ways over the years!

TCN: Are their any local suppliers who made your Naming Day just that little bit more special?

Yes!

We have a beautiful cake from Cakes By Katrina

Some delicious food provided by Smoking Brothers Catering

Our gorgeous balloons were from Balloons and Baskets

My lovely dress was from Little Party Dress

{Locally Found} White Night was just Right

I was lucky enough to attend the inaugural White Night Party at  Mayfield Garden recently and I had an absolute blast!

Upon arrival we were met by the gorgeous and eternally friendly Meg who welcomed us with a big smile and a glass of delicious punch (that girl knows how to make friends!)mayfield2

I have to admit I have never been to the gardens before but once I followed the winding path I was amazed to see just how beautiful the place is! The party was centred under a generous white tent surrounded by rolling grass hills and a magnificent water feature.

We found our seats on the shared tables and quickly made friends with the people beside us. I love the idea of communal tables, I think it is so easy to go places with your friends and only stay in your group but shared tables encourage you to meet those around you. We were lucky enough to sit with a couple of very friendly ladies from Raine and Horne Real Estate in Bathurst.

The tables were generously adorned with flowers and fernery as well as bottles of red and white wine. It was certainly clear from the outset that no one was going to be short of a drink all night!

The whole place felt like we had stepped into an exclusive Hampton’s party, the floral decorations from Ivory Rose Botanicals were sublime, generous and really were the icing on the cake.

The night’s entertainment was a brilliant band The Orient Royal Mail Band who played well into the night and Mayfield Garden even ran a surprise fake wedding to showcase how brilliant a wedding could be at the grounds. I tell you what, if I was planning a wedding the Gardens would certainly be one of the frontrunners for me!

The food was delicious and generous and in particular if I could get my little mitts on an endless supply of the olive bread I would be eternally happy. I am obsessed with it, it was without a doubt the yummiest bread I have EVER eaten. *recipe please!*

The food was scrumptious and I am a strong believer in the food mentality on offer from Heath Smith and Head Chef Dan Child who offer paddock to plate wherever possible. Mayfield Garden are really ahead of the game when it comes to sustainable local produce being used effectively and absolutely deliciously.

All in all I look forward to going back next year to Mayfield Garden‘s White Night and celebrate a night filled with laughter, friendship and good food with my pals.

I can’t wait until the next chance I get to head out to Mayfield Garden. I hear there’s a cafe – oohhh I wonder if they have the olive bread!?!?

{Locally Found} Stop. Its fairy party time

So this year for the first time we are having an actual real-life-hire-somewhere birthday party for the kindergartner.

She has a bunch of school mates and I nearly suffocate when I think of the idea of 15 screeching 5 and 6 year old girls inhabiting my house for a few hours on a Saturday. So, I needed some options.

Catering is hard, especially in this day when loads of kids have allergies or special requirements. It is also difficult to enjoy the day while trying to keep track of other people’s kids!

So, enter Bathurst City Community Club (or the BCCC).

They offer themed parties to suit your little miss or mister and all you have to supply is the cake.

bcccc

The friendly team will supply party bags, food, entertainment, drinks and games for your guests.

The totes best part though is they provide you with a host person that takes care of the little people!

BRILLIANT!

I am definitely excited and will report back after we have “the best party ever” – quote from my almost 6 year old.

If you need a party location give them a call and have a chat. Tell them The Central Nest sent you!

christmas photoshop small copy

Pretty. Perfect. Gorgeous. Amazing. Trustworthy. Designer. Bliss. Sublime. Delicious. There are just not enough words to describe how wonderful the world of Lambert & Lord is (and I know A LOT of words!!)

logo-690x100

Lambert & Lord is an online store owned and operated by the gorgeous Karen Pearce (based in our little neck of the woods, specifically Bathurst).

Due to the fact that they are an online store (www.lambertandlord.com.au) it gives YOU, the shopper, the benefit of all the convenience of shopping online while still being able to support local business! (And it is very important to support local businesses – how boring would shopping in the central west be without them?!)

Lambert & Lord offer a beautiful range of paper goods and partyware, for entertaining and every day.

Lambert & Lord has been operating at www.lambertandlord.com.au since the beginning of October 2013 but you might remember them from their small shop in Keppel Street, Bathurst called The Party Table.

The thing that separates Lambert & Lord is the fact that they stock a beautiful range of premium products that are often unavailable outside of metropolitan areas.

Being a local business, they offer the convenience of shopping online with competitive prices and an extensive range. Bathurst customers can add to this free delivery on orders over $30.00 or free pick-up at Gorgeousness in William Street.

Their main product range is all about simple, stylish colour and fun. They stock polkadot, candy stripe and solid colour paper tableware, coordinating balloons and bunting, gorgeous honeycomb balls and paper fans, and versatile treat boxes and tags. They also stock a range of eco-friendly wooden cutlery. How brilliant to be able to access such diversity locally!

What I think gives Lambert & Lord the edge is the fact that they complement the range with special pieces from well-known Australian and overseas brands. At the moment, Meri Meri is their personal favourite, with their gorgeous Jingle All The Way range for Christmas, their gold and silver Confetti range for New Year, and their Toot Sweet partyware range.
