{Girl Crush Tuesday} The Young Mummy

We have some pretty hard girl crushes. These are the types of ladies that stamp their style on the world. They are the type of people that will always be remembered and little girls grow up wanting to be. They are women of substance. Women that make the world a better place. Happy Girl Crush Tuesday everybody.line4Today we salute the honest, beautiful and creative Sophie Cachia – also known as The Young Mummy.

The main reason we love Sophie is because of her wonderfully brutal honesty. She is an excellent writer who shares the brilliance (and trials) of the everyday.

Sophie describes her writing as ‘boobs, pubes & all’ and she tries to keep it as real as possible. She shares her experiences as a mum, a wife and a young woman.

The thing that drew me to Sophie in the first place was her incredible honesty when she talks about her struggles with mental illness and in particular post-natal depression following the birth of her delightful son Bobby. I think the more people who give a voice to those who struggle, the easier it will be for people to seek help. I know she certainly helped me.

Sophie has transformed into a passionate crusader for many charities and given a voice to those who need it most.

One of the bravest things that Sophie has done was to share the birthing experience of her daughter Florence with the world. She shared contractions, the waiting, the pain with everyone and reminded each one of us just how powerful the female body can be.

Sophie is simply delightful and lights up my social media feed every day. We salute you Sophie for showing all little girls that a little honesty and a little bit of braveness can go a long way. Life may not be entirely perfect but it is certainly what you make of it.

{Girl Crush Tuesday} The brilliant Miranda

We have some pretty hard girl crushes. These are the types of ladies that stamp their style on the world. Happy Girl Crush Tuesday everybody.line4Today’s girl crush is a solid one. We LOVE her. She is wonderful and talented and downright awesome.

Today we salute the delightful Miranda Tapsell.

Miranda is an actress of both stage and screen but you probably know her from the rockin’ show Love Child or the brilliant movie, The Sapphires.

She has solidly been building a career and working hard.

Miranda knows her roots and is respectful to them. She is an indigenous Australian and spends a lot of her time campaigning for equality. She even used her speech after being awarded Most Popular New Talent and Most Outstanding Newcomer at the Australia Television Industry Awards to make a call for more Indigenous stories to be showcased on Australian Television.

Thanks for being an absolute star and role model for our little girls to aspire to be.

{Girl Crush Tuesday} The powerfully talented Meg

We have some pretty hard girl crushes. These are the types of ladies that stamp their style on the world. They are the type of people that will always be remembered and little girls grow up wanting to be. They are women of substance. Women that make the world a better place. Happy Girl Crush Tuesday everybody.line4Today’s girl crush is on the extraordinary Meg Lanning.

Meg is Australian cricketing royalty. She was Australia’s youngest captain at the tender age of 21 and she holds a swag of records!

Her stats are undeniable. In 2011 she scored an unbeaten century against England, and on 27 March 2014 she scored 126 runs from 65 balls against Ireland. To put that into perspective, as at 29 March 2014 that was the highest individual innings score in a women’s international and the second-highest score by a male or female in any international Twenty20 match. WOAH!

Add to that the fact that she also lends her voice to Channel Nine’s commentary team! What a star.

Plus, because she is an awesome lady she is also a supporter of CareAustralia and is one of their ambassadors. We salute you!

In a male driven sport Meg is making the boys stand up and pay attention. It is fantastic to see a fun, fierce female showing everyone that girls really do rule the world!

Happy Girl Crush Tuesday everybody.line4Today’s girl crush is on the wonderfully clever Rebel Wilson.

Rebel is Aussie girl done good and I am girl crushing HARD. She wears many hats, she is a rockin’ stand-up comedian, an actor, producer and writer.

Rebel was mentioned by Variety as one of the Top Ten Comics to Watch and has starred in some of the funniest films to be created. The movies, Bridesmaids and Pitch Perfect have led to Rebel being one of the most sought-after comedic actors in Hollywood.

The best thing about Rebel is she isn’t just a pretty face. She is ri-dic smart too! In fact, I hear her first career choice was to pursue mathematics!! She even studied Law and Arts at the University of New South Wales.

Rebel is a girl after my own heart, she is a bloody hard worker, anyone can see that. Any success she receives was not just handed to her on a silver platter instead she has worked for it.

Little girls across the world can look at Rebel and see that you don’t need to be like all the other kids to make a really important mark on the world.

Thanks Rebel, you are my unrequited BFF and I thank you for giving my little ladies someone to aspire to be.

I hope to buy you a beer one day.

{Girl Crush Tuesday} The remarkable Deborra-Lee

We have some pretty hard girl crushes. These are the types of ladies that stamp their style on the world. They are the type of people that will always be remembered and little girls grow up wanting to be. They are women of substance. Women that make the world a better place. Happy Girl Crush Tuesday everybody.line4 Today’s girl crush is on the fabulous Deborra-Lee Furness. Deborra is an outstanding person on SO. MANY. LEVELS.

She started her career as an actor and even studied at the acclaimed American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York.

While she has had significant success in the acting field it is her charity work that really amazes us. What makes Deborra-Lee so remarkable is her endless drive to create a better world. She has campaigned tirelessly to bring to the foreground the issues associated with adoption in Australia and around the world.

She is placing the limelight heavily on the need for action and change to find little people some loving homes sooner rather than later. She has been named the 2015 NSW Australian of the Year for her work as a child advocate and adoption campaigner.

On a personal level she is the mother to two beautiful children, Oscar and Ava and married to some guy named Hugh Jackman(!)

She is style. She is honest. She is Aussie gal done good.

Thank you from the bottom of our very grateful hearts Deborra-Lee for showing all little girls what hard work, perseverance and good intentions can do. We salute you.
