Today we salute the fantastically talented Delta Goodrem.

Delta is undeniably Australia’s princess of pop and has one of the best voices that the country has ever heard. She is an actor, a performer, a presenter, a songwriter and even a judge on the Australian version of the voice.

Delta is amazing not only on the stage but more importantly behind the limelight. She is a cancer survivor who regularly supports many charities including even donating a portion of her concert proceeds to the Delta Goodrem Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research Trust Fund. She is also an ambassador for the Starlight Children’s Foundation.

Delta also supports RADD (Recording Artists, Actors And Athletes Against Drunk Driving), to help raise awareness of the risks of drunk driving.

Delta is the epitome of a superstar and shows all little girls, that through hard work, perseverance and genuine Australian spirit girls really can run the world.

Today we are saluting the brilliantly talented, creative genius that is Maddie Veitch from Ivory Rose Botanicals.

Maddie is a local mama who is working hard for herself and her family. Not long ago she opened Ivory Rose Botanicals in George Street Bathurst and since that time has shown herself to be the front-runner in floral design.

Maddie will help with everything from a simple bouquet for your bestie, all the way up to your wedding arch super pieces. She doesn’t just sell flowers, she literally creates art.

Ivory Rose Botanicals also holds really fun classes in floral arrangements, everything from headpieces to flower centrepieces.

Plus, the totes best thing is rolling into her little studio and getting to hang out with Maddie and her beautiful little boys.

The Central Nest loves supporting local women working hard to make a difference and Maddie is certainly doing that. So, thank you Maddie for giving my little girls someone to look up to so they realise you really can strive to have it all.

{Girl Crush Tuesday} The fabulous Mia Freedman

We have some pretty hard girl crushes. These are the types of ladies that stamp their style on the world. They are the type of people that will always be remembered and little girls grow up wanting to be. They are women of substance. Women that make the world a better place. Happy Girl Crush Tuesday everybody.line4

Today we salute Mia Freedman. Mia is a fabulously strong woman who uses her voice through many avenues. She is an editor, writer, author and blogger. She was even the youngest ever editor of Australian Cosmopolitan at the age of 24!

What we love about Mia is that she isn’t afraid to go against the norm and give her opinion regardless of the consequences. She stands by her strong opinions and isn’t naïve enough to believe that everyone will agree with her but instead supports the right of free speech.

If you are a parent with internet access you will have no doubt come across Mia’s websites, Ivillage and Mamamia. These sites are read by thousands and thousands of people every single day. She gives a voice and advice to many who don’t know where to go.

Mia isn’t afraid of standing out from the crowd and uses this power to push many causes close to her heart. These include encouraging women to embrace their bodies and giving support to those who have experienced stillborn births and miscarriages.

Mia has been very open about her own experiences with mental illness and in particular living everyday with anxiety. Brave women like Mia who use their positions to talk more openly about these issues increase awareness and acceptance for even more members of the community.

Mia might not be everyone’s cup of tea but to others she is certainly their glass of champagne.

Thanks Mia for showing our little girls not to be afraid of using their voices loudly and proudly and for teaching them that through hard work and a little perseverance anything is possible.

{Girl Crush Tuesday} The hilarious Celeste

We have some pretty hard girl crushes. These are the types of ladies that stamp their style on the world. They are the type of people that will always be remembered and little girls grow up wanting to be. They are women of substance. Women that make the world a better place. Happy Girl Crush Tuesday everybody.line4Today’s girl crush is on the hilariously brilliant Celeste Barber.

Author. Comedian. Artist. Actor. Deadset Legend.

You will probably know Celeste best from her photographs that have spread across all newsfeeds recently. She is that brilliant lady who copies those completely ridiculous images of the rich people doing wanky rich people things and puts a normal person in the same context. The result are hilarious!

More than her brilliant snaps she has also made numerous appearances on Home & Away, Have You Been Paying Attention and Studio 10.

She is witty and doesn’t take herself too seriousness and we like that in a girl crush.

The ability to be brave in your own body is a powerful message and we salute you today Mrs Barber.

{Girl Crush Tuesday} The generous Karla

We have some pretty hard girl crushes. These are the types of ladies that stamp their style on the world. They are the type of people that will always be remembered and little girls grow up wanting to be. They are women of substance. Women that make the world a better place. Happy Girl Crush Tuesday everybody.line4Today’s girl crush is on someone very special and local! Today we salute the brilliantly driven, Karla McDiarmid.

Karla is the owner/operator of Macquarie Medi Spa in Bathurst, which just quietly, completely smashed the World Luxery Spa Awards. THE WORLD Luxury Spa Awards! How sensational is that?!

What we love about Karla is that she does so much charity work and is the first to offer to help out. One of her great achievements is that she is a driving force behind the Bathurst Women’s Network which helps support local women in business.

The most lovely thing about Karla is how generous she is with her time, she always stops for a chat and loves nothing more than helping people find their full potential. She is wonderfully clever at not only making you feel beautiful on the outside but also more importantly on the inside.

Thanks for showing all little girls that determination, hard work and perseverance can lead to a completely fulfilling career and a wonderful life.  karla2

{Girl Crush Tuesday} The Magnificent Maggie

We have some pretty hard girl crushes. These are the types of ladies that stamp their style on the world. They are the type of people that will always be remembered and little girls grow up wanting to be. They are women of substance. Women that make the world a better place. Happy Girl Crush Tuesday everybody.line4Maggie Beer is the queen of Australian cooking talent. She has the simplest food philosophy that is to cook straight from the heart and make the most of each and every ingredient she uses. The reason why I love her is that her cooking is honest and truthful. Plus she has recipes that even I can handle!

Living in the Barossa, Maggie operates a business that has an extensive range of gourmet foods including quince paste (my ABSOLUTE FAV!), icecreams and verjuice. She has appeared many times on Masterchef and is quite the author with 10 cooking books!

In 2001 Maggie was awarded the Centenary Medal for service to Australian society through cooking and writing and in 2008 won the Australian Publishers Association’s Illustrated Book of the Year for ‘Maggie’s Harvest’. She was awarded Senior Australian of the year on 2010 and in 2012 was appointed a member of Order of Australia. How incredible is she!

In 2014 Maggie created the Maggie Beer Foundation which is committed to improving the well-being of the elderly by having access to food full of flavour and nutrients. Ultimately the foundation wants to influence government policy to ensure the delivery of better food services to those in our community who need it most.

You know that imaginary list of remarkable people that you wish you could have dinner with one day? Maggie is number one on my list. She is incredible and I would love the opportunity to absorb even just a little bit of her brilliance one day.

Thank you Maggie, you inspire me everyday to try and deliver good quality food to my family and to make the best food choices possible for my little ladies.

Today’s girl crush is on the superbly talented and ever creative Donna Hay.

Ms Hay is quite possibility my biggest crush! Not a week goes by that I don’t  go straight to one of her fantastic cook books looking for inspiration. Her meals are achievable, delicious and nutritious (and most are completely doable even with a toddler bird on the bench and a baby bird on the hip!)

She makes good, smart food available to the masses. Through well-conceived books she enables even the most beginner of chefs to impress any dinner party guest.

She is more than just a foodie, she is a fierce business woman, who shows all little girls that through hard work, determination and perseverance you really can make your dreams come true. Plus, she does all this while in an industry often dominated by men.

Donna offers a wide selection of products, ranging from her cook books all the way through to utensils and giftware. Her website is a one-stop haven for any food lover. Her style is impeccable and you can spend hours lovingly turning the pages on her magazines just absorbing the colours, the design and overall prettiness of it all.

The wonderful thing about the way Donna cooks is that it is fuss-free but still still chic and a wee bit fancy. Somehow she makes the impossible possible and before you know it  the little birdies want to eat chicken yakitori every night!

Ms Hay will forever be on my bucket list of people to meet, she is an inspiration for how a passion for food can turn into a passion for life. Her empire is constantly growing and we could not be happier.

Today’s girl crush is on the fantastically talented and very successful Jackie Frank.

Jackie is the editor and publisher of Marie Claire Australia. She is powerfully smart and epitomises girl power at its absolute finest.

Professionally, together with her fantastic team she has bought Marie Claire Australia to the forefront of any fashion lovers bookshelf and is officially the go-to for any fashion conscious Australian woman. Quite remarkably, Marie Claire Australia in combination with its sister editions are read by thirteen million women in 26 countries each month. As further evidence of the success achieved while being captained by Jackie, Marie Claire Australia was recognised as Magazine of the year in 2001 at the Magazine Publishers of Australia Awards.

What makes Jackie even more remarkable is that she is not afraid to voice her opinion when something just doesn’t seem right. She stands up for women’s rights and is publically known for her stand against models who are unhealthily thin. She is also completely passionate about equal marriage in Australia, and across the world.

As if editing Australia’s most beautiful magazine is not enough, Jackie is also successful personally as a mother to two beautiful children.

Thank you Ms Frank for giving all little girls someone to admire. You show that hard work, perseverance and self-belief are the cornerstone for a successful career. Girls really can have it all.
