{Locally Found} Succulent Love

Recently I was invited to my very first succulent workshop with the beautiful Renelle at Pop-Up Succulent Shop to say I had a brilliant afternoon would be such an understatement.

1

Upon arriving you are met with a glass of bubbles and a delicious cheese & fruit platter (she won me over right there!). Before long I forgot I was in a class and it felt much more like I was in my friend’s lounge room having a few drinks and learning some new things about gardening.

2

Renelle was patient and explained perfectly what we had to do. She answered ALL my probably ridiculous questions and even helped me when I realised things for my kokedama were not quite going according to plan!

My mum came with me and quickly we made friends with the other people at the workshop, that’s the thing you see it was relaxed and friendly. There were no strangers just friends we were yet to meet.  4

Renelle supplies everything you need to make two kokedamas and she even gives some good hints on how to wrap other plants you buy to make great gifts or house plants.

I am far from a good gardener but bloody hell I was proud when I came home and showed the hubs and kids what I had made. I now very proudly have two kokedamas in my kitchen and each and every time I look at them I get all warm and fuzzy and remember the great afternoon I had.

6

Make sure you grab a pal and check out one of the workshops offered by Renelle at  Pop-Up Succulent Shop. She holds a range of workshops including kokedamas, wreath and general potting classes.

You can also have a chat to Renelle at many markets and events she attends around our area.

{Girl Crush Tuesday} Rebel – we are totes crushing hard on you babes

We have some pretty hard girl crushes. These are the types of ladies that stamp their style on the world. They are the type of people that will always be remembered and little girls grow up wanting to be. They are women of substance. Women that make the world a better place. Happy Girl Crush Tuesday everybody.line4Today’s girl crush is on the wonderfully clever Rebel Wilson.

Rebel is Aussie girl done good and I am girl crushing HARD. She wears many hats, she is a rockin’ stand-up comedian, an actor, producer and writer.

Rebel was mentioned by Variety as one of the Top Ten Comics to Watch and has starred in some of the funniest films to be created. The movies, Bridesmaids and Pitch Perfect have led to Rebel being one of the most sought-after comedic actors in Hollywood.

The best thing about Rebel is she isn’t just a pretty face. She is ri-dic smart too! In fact, I hear her first career choice was to pursue mathematics!! She even studied Law and Arts at the University of New South Wales.

Rebel is a girl after my own heart, she is a bloody hard worker, anyone can see that. Any success she receives was not just handed to her on a silver platter instead she has worked for it.

Little girls across the world can look at Rebel and see that you don’t need to be like all the other kids to make a really important mark on the world.

Thanks Rebel, you are my unrequited BFF and I thank you for giving my little ladies someone to aspire to be.

I hope to buy you a beer one day.

{Happy Easter} How about this year you hunt a little bit different for Easter Eggs?

Easter – that glorious time of year where chocolate can be consumed at 6.47am without a twinge of guilt, and it perfectly okay that an oversized, giant mammal in the form of a rabbit breaks into your home and leaves behind a trail of chocolate treats.

How about this year instead of the traditional Easter Egg hunt you try something just a little bit different?golden egg

{Twins are twice as nice} but.. how about a little support – did you know that Multiple Birth Awareness Week is from 9-16 March?

So you fall pregnant and think how wonderful life will be with your new little mini-me.. then you go for a scan and discover not one but two heartbeats.. or even three!

Having multiples is not only a lesson in patience but tough, rewarding, difficult, funny and sometimes isolating – especially if you live in the country.

Enter the Bathurst Multiple Birth Association (BXMBA). They are a lifeline. They are new friends. They are support.

babytwins

The BXMBA is a not for profit organisation which was originally set up to help multiple birth families to network, find support and friendship while parenting twins, triplets or more!

It is a volunteer run club that is part of a greater support network of 65+ clubs nationally.

When you join the BXMBA you get: fun, support, connection with other parents/carers of multiples, playgroup, outings, information nights, parent nights out, morning teas, Christmas party, monthly meetings, newsletters and magazines.

The Facebook access (to members only) is where you can get support, ideas or just have a chat without leaving your home. Other bonuses are the fact that you have access to resources such as information on multiples from pregnancy to beyond the start of school including but not limited to books and DVD’s.

The group also runs the Bathurst Multiple Birth Association Playgroup. This playgroup is held at Bathurst Baptist Church, 188 Eglinton Road, Bathurst. They are there for a friendly chat (and to tire the kids out!) every 2nd Monday of the month during the school terms. All you need to bring is yourself, your babies and a gold coin donation ($2.00 for members and $4.00 for non-members). They will even feed you morning tea!MiniTrains Poster

If you or someone you know would like to join the BXMBA you can find them at bxmultiples@gmail.com

To celebrate Multiple Birth Awareness Week which runs from 9th – 16th March the BXBMA is hosting a free event for all families of multiples. There will be some laughs at the mini-train day which includes face painting as well! It really is a great chance to get out and meet other families of multiples around your area.
