{Girl Crush Tuesday} The impeccable Ms Hay

We have some pretty hard girl crushes. These are the types of ladies that stamp their style on the world. They are the type of people that will always be remembered and little girls grow up wanting to be. They are women of substance. Women that make the world a better place.

Happy Girl Crush Tuesday everybody.line4

Today’s girl crush is on the superbly talented and ever creative Donna Hay.

Ms Hay is quite possibility my biggest crush! Not a week goes by that I don’t  go straight to one of her fantastic cook books looking for inspiration. Her meals are achievable, delicious and nutritious (and most are completely doable even with a toddler bird on the bench and a baby bird on the hip!)

She makes good, smart food available to the masses. Through well-conceived books she enables even the most beginner of chefs to impress any dinner party guest.

She is more than just a foodie, she is a fierce business woman, who shows all little girls that through hard work, determination and perseverance you really can make your dreams come true. Plus, she does all this while in an industry often dominated by men.

Donna offers a wide selection of products, ranging from her cook books all the way through to utensils and giftware. Her website is a one-stop haven for any food lover. Her style is impeccable and you can spend hours lovingly turning the pages on her magazines just absorbing the colours, the design and overall prettiness of it all.

The wonderful thing about the way Donna cooks is that it is fuss-free but still still chic and a wee bit fancy. Somehow she makes the impossible possible and before you know it  the little birdies want to eat chicken yakitori every night!

Ms Hay will forever be on my bucket list of people to meet, she is an inspiration for how a passion for food can turn into a passion for life. Her empire is constantly growing and we could not be happier.

Two for tea? or perhaps three? Here’s some pots to serve a lot.

There is a splendid peace that comes with some quiet time and a pot of tea. It truly is one of life’s great pleasures.

Okay, admittedly it is rare that I get time to just sit with a magazine and a pot of tea, but I do find it handy having a big pot full so when I forget carefully misplace the location of my cup I can just refill on the way through the kitchen.

Here is a selection of our most favourite teapots

1. T2Tea ‘Queenie Tpot’ is a bit of a splurge at $350.00

2. Maxwell Williams ‘Cashmere Enchante Jacqueline Teapot’ is so pretty at $49.95

3. Jumbled ‘Deco Teapot’ adds a slight pop of colour and is available for $36.95

4. Donna Hay for Royal Doultan ‘Bone China Teapot’ is a classic for any home and is $69.95.

Cheers my little nesters. Enjoy some tea.

Hey, hey, Donna Hay

I have a slight obsession with a beautiful and clever brunette who is just the ants pants as far as I am concerned. She can turn everyday boring ingredients into a work of art and teaches somewhat average cooks (read: me) to make food to impress.

My girly crush is on non-other than Donna Hay, but what I didn’t know was that she was now solving my gift giving issues as well! What a superstar.
