Amy and her weight loss journey

Losing weight is always tough, it is an everyday commitment for the rest of your life. There are many different programs to use, all with different benefits. Here we chat to the lovely Amy who is undertaking her first round of the Michelle Bridges 12WBT.

The beautiful Amy

The beautiful Amy

Central Nest: Hi Amy, please tell us a little about yourself.

Amy: My name is Amy Dalton and I am 30. I am a wife and mother to three beautiful children.

Central Nest: What made you decide to try the 12wbt?

Amy: I have 3 lively young children and an excitable puppy who I need to be able to keep up with.  Since having my children, my weight has continued to creep up and up. I have realised that I can always come up with an excuse as to why it’s too hard to lose weight.  I decided that I didn’t want to watch life pass me by anymore, I want to participate in it instead! So to do this, I need to lose approximately 30kg!

I decided to go with Michelle Bridges 12wbt as my sister participated a couple of rounds ago and she had great success as well as high praise for the program.  I need something that will last beyond when you ‘pay’ for it, and need to be able to create healthy meals for the family. I also have had friends participate in the program and they all highly recommend it.

Central Nest: What are your expectations of the program?

Amy: I’m not really sure what to expect, I know it is a fair bit of exercise which I am looking forward to, although that may also be my biggest test. With my husband’s shift work, it is much easier to say it’s too hard because he is working and that is a great excuse as I can’t leave the house, but I just need to get up and do it!

Central Nest: What is your ideal outcome?

Amy: My ideal outcome for my weight loss journey is to be able to fit back into a dress I wore to my 21st. I will probably need to do another round or two after this to achieve that though.

Central Nest: What was the best part of the program this week?

Amy: Getting started is always good.  I was keen to try out the recipes and it is nice creating good wholesome food for the family. I’ve been surprised by how large the portions are although I am having more calories than most as I am still breastfeeding my son.

Central Nest: What part did you find the hardest this week?

Amy: I found getting up and exercising again when I had muscle fatigue really tough. It became a bit of a mental battle just to get up and do it but was really proud of myself for doing so.

I also found giving up sugar really hard. I found myself craving chocolate, or lollies, or anything sweet and bad for you. I didn’t have any though, but this then put me in a bad mood so that wasn’t so fun. I found that my patience was really short with the kids and then feel bad when I snapped.  I hope this goes away really quickly as that has been probably the hardest mental challenge for me this week.

Central Nest: What is your favourite meal so far?

Amy: Sunday’s breakfast was delicious – French Toast with Banana, Berries & Maple Syrup and I also really enjoyed the Veal Involtini with Parmesan Polenta & Roast Cherry Tomatoes.

Central Nest: Are you enjoying the program?

Amy: I am enjoying the program so far. Everyone seems to be really supportive and I have found out that a couple of friends are also doing the program so I can meet up and do a training session together.  I have found a couple of Facebook sites for around this region where you can go and vent, or if you have any questions or want to celebrate a milestone and the people on there are lovely and supportive.

Central Nest: Thank you for sharing your story with the Nest Amy, we wish you all the best and look forward to hearing updates on your journey.

If you are looking for some support head over to Central Tablelands 12WBT Facebook group to meet some lovely and very supportive people.
